For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. Rom 14:17

Joy in the Spirit

Desire for the forbidden fruit broke the relationship between the Divine and human. Driven away from the Garden, deprived of the joy in the presence of the Spirit, man realised the value of the true joy. The enemy used desire for food as a tool to create enmity between the Creator and the created. Hoarding, stealing, fighting, and waging war even amongst nations develop with the desire for meat and drink. As believers of Christ who enjoy sharing bread and wine in fellowship with believers, Paul recommends us to cherish the joy in the Spirit. Our Master Teacher, who alone came down from heaven remained without food and drink and enjoyed the perfect anointing of joy in the Spirit, taught with authority to live by the Word that proceeds from the mouth of God. "But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." (Mt 4:4) Let's believe in the truth and live by the joy in the Spirit.

Abba, help us desire the joy in the Spirit more than meat and drink. Let your Holy Ghost remind us to drink from the wellspring of anointing. Amen!
