The land you have given me is a pleasant land. What a wonderful inheritance!  Ps 16:6

His Choice His Gift

Wanting to be independent and desiring for knowledge to be self-reliant are the things that gave way for the enemy to defeat the first family. Success and victory are the portions that God wants for His children who obey His commands and receive His counsel. Trusting in His plans and purposes would make life easier and effective. Abraham left his country and kinsmen trusting in His plans and providence, "The LORD had said to Abram, "Go from your country, your people and your father's household to the land I will show you." (Genesis 12:1) Elisha burned his means of livelihood honoring His choice and His gift of vocation. "So Elisha turned back, took the pair of oxen, sacrificed them, boiled their flesh using the farm implements for fuel, and gave the food to the people with him. Then he got up, followed Elijah, and became his servant." (1 Kings 19:21)  And Peter, an ordinary fisherman, received the status of fisher of men when realized His choice and His gift. "Then Jesus said to Simon, “Don’t be afraid; from now on you will fish for people.” So they pulled their boats up on shore, left everything and followed him." (Luke 5:11) David reminds us to receive a life pleasant and future bright by believing His choice and His gifts. "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." (Jeremiah 29:11) Boast not, lean not, on your own but humble yourself to His choice and receive His gifts.

Abba! Help me believe in your fatherly love. Let your Spirit remind me of your plans. Amen!
