Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up. James 4:10

Humility Esteemed

Prestige, power and knowledge are sought after by men and women as they want to exalt themselves above all. But a warning and advice have been shared by James, our beloved apostle, as to humble that He may exalt. Sermon on the Mount too highlights the necessity of humility, "Happy are those who are humble; they will receive what God has promised!" (Mt 5:5). The lady, who was chosen to remain the tabernacle to the Divine Word of incarnation, sang in jubilation, "He has brought down mighty kings from their thrones, and lifted up the lowly" (Luke 1:52). Arrogance, pride and pompousness will definitely lead to vanity nearer or sooner as Christ Himself warns, "Whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted" (Mt 23:12). Submitting and surrendering to the divine will of God and waiting patiently for His blessing is expected of a true believer as humility will always be esteemed and rewarded.

Abba, help us realise our nothingness and look up to You for blessings. Let your Spirit keep us humble in mind and spirit. Amen.
