Better to listen to the quiet words of a wise man. Ecc 9:17

Wise Counsel

The culture of extreme independence in decision making may lead to unassumed and possible defeat. Solomon who was gifted with enormous amount of wisdom suggests that it is better to get the wise counsel. Kings who were unaware of the true God appreciated and went for wise counsel: Pharaoh and his kingdom were saved by the counsel of Joseph, the dreamteller who was kept in his confinement. "Since God has informed you of all this, there is no one so discerning and wise as you are. You shall be over my house, and according to your command all my people shall do homage; only in the throne I will be greater than you" (Gen 41:39-40). Daniel, too shared his counsel even to the king who enslaved him and his fellow men. King Nebuchadnezzar answered Daniel and said, "Surely your God is a God of gods and a Lord of kings and a revealer of mysteries, since you have been able to reveal this mystery."(Daniel 2:47). Queen of sheba took a long trail to give heed to Solomon's precious wisdom. "Howbeit I believed not the words, until I came, and mine eyes had seen it: and, behold, the half was not told me; thy wisdom and prosperity exceed the fame which I heard." (1 Kings 10:6-7). We are privileged with the indwelling spirit of God who speaks to us in quiet words that we may inherit the blessings that is kept in store for each of us. Practice listening to the quiet voice of the Holy Ghost. "But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come." (John 16:13)

Abba, thank you for the divine arrangement for the supply of your counsel. Let your Spirit continuously speak to us. Amen.
