A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity. Prov 17:17

Age of social media provides ample opportunities to cultivate and extend personal relationships. Solomon doesn't disregard our friendships but invites us to exalt the God-given relationships - father, mother, brother and sister. No one and nothing can replace the necessity of the brotherly love which comes with the special category of sharing the womb, hence needs special reverence and importance. David also recommends in his hymn, "Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!" (Ps 133:1). History has a detailed record of how one brother, Joseph who was enslaved by his brothers was there in adversity and extended his generous hand, "Then, Joseph said to them, 'Please come closer.' They did, and he said, 'I am your brother Joseph, whom you sold into Egypt. Now do not be upset or blame yourselves because you sold me here. It was really God who sent me ahead of you to save people's lives.'" (Gen 45:4-5) Let's enjoy the company of our God-given blood relatives and give time and love generously.

Abba, thank you for our siblings that you have reserved for our necessity. Let your Holy Spirit unite us always. Amen!
