God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. James 4:6

Humility Rewarded

Pride and arrogance shuts the doors of heaven which only rewards the humble with excessive supply of grace. Desire for knowing everything by herself was the deception that brought condemnation unto Eve. Mary, a humble young girl received abundant grace when she submitted to the plan of God, against her knowledge and situation: “And the angel being come in, said unto her: Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.” (Lk 1:28) Christ rewarded her humility by being born through her for the salvation of the entire mankind. Being filled with His grace, out of abundant joy Mary sang that humility is highly esteemed and rewarded: “For He has had regard for the humble state of His bondslave; For behold, from this time on all generations will count me blessed.” (Lk 1:48) Let’s imitate the noble skill of humility of Mary and enjoy more grace and blessing.

Abba, thank you for rewarding Mary’s humility. Let your Spirit help us remain humble.

May the miracle of Christmas blessings light gently upon you, as revealed through new birth in heart and in home*
As we sing, "Breath of Heaven, be forever near us,
Breath of Heaven, light in the darkness, pour over you His holiness" *
