If anyone. . . opens the door, I will come into his house. (Rev 3.20)

Warm Welcome

Unconditional love of God impels Him to enjoy human friendship and company. He is waiting to enter the house and life of anyone who extends warm welcome to the knocking sound: “Listen! I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come into his house and eat with him and he will eat with me” (Rev 3:20). When Zacchaeus hurried down and welcomed Him with great joy, Jesus brought great conversion and blessing to him and his household: Jesus said to him, “Salvation has come to this house today, for this man, also, is a descendant of Abraham” (Lk 19:9). When Simon and Andrew received Jesus in their home, Simon’s mother in law received healing (Mk 1:31). When Martha and Mary extended warm welcome, they got their brother, who was deceased, brought back to life: He called out in a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!” (Jn 11:43). Let’s keep awake to hear His voice and invite Him into our lives and receive the privilege and honor of dining with Him.

Abba, thank you for sending your Son to dine with us. Let your Spirit keep us alert to open the door.
