Fill these jars with water. Jn 2:7

Efforts Required

Where human beings cannot fulfil what they need, they look for a divine assistance. A similar thing happened in the town of Cana in Galilee where wine was in shortage for a wedding celebration. Mary reported and requested a divine assistance from her son Jesus, who in turn demanded human efforts of filling the jars with water. At times, if we neglect our part of efforts that is required to enjoy a miracle, we may not receive mighty works of God. “Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall be restored, and you shall be clean.” was the effort required of Naaman to receive healing, which provoked him to the point, he almost missed the miracle (2 Kings 5:10). His servants pleaded with him to fulfil his part of duty to receive healing that he needed the most, “My father, if the prophet had commanded you to do some great thing, would you not have done it? How much rather, then, when he says to you, ‘Wash, and be clean’?” (2 Kings 5:13). Naaman’s flesh was restored when he fulfilled the efforts required. Let us also learn and submit to the commands of heaven.

Abba, help us know and fulfil the efforts required to receive the miracle. Let your Spirit guide us through this. Amen.
