Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Ps 127:1

Divine Builder

Skyscrapers, projects, businesses, schemes, and families and churches are planned and executed by brilliant architects and intellectuals of varied disciplines, or even by an ambitious commoner. David, the Psalmist, who also built nations with the help of the Almighty, shares his wisdom with any builder, “Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain” (Ps 127:1). Partnership with the Divine Builder, who questioned Job and challenged him of His architectural capacity that created the universe, is vital for the standing of any structure: “Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell me, if you know so much.” (Job 38:4). He only knows the length, breadth, stability, and longevity of the bedrock, be it a place or a person, on which the foundation has to be set. An ordinary fisherman with all sinfulness and bad temper, who even denied the Master, was chosen by the Divine Builder, “And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.” (Mt 16:18). The tenacity of the church, that survives the destructive powers of philosophers, scholars, scientists and thinkers,  for it is built on The Rock, “Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won't collapse because it is built on bedrock.” (Mt 7:25). Paul explains the stability and integrity of this divine institution, that is “built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone” (Eph 2:20). Let’s receive His plans and let’s invite the Divine Builder.

Abba, we acknowledge and surrender to Your Plans. Let your Spirit build with us, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
