Kind words are like honey—sweet to the taste and good for your health. Prov 16:24

Verbal Medicine

Health, happiness, friendship, and the peace of mind are desired by every human being. The right choice of words at right situation might boost up our prosperity and success in relationships and businesses. Solomon advises us to utilise words appropriately, “Kind words are like honey—sweet to the taste and good for your health” (Prov 16:24). Empires have been built by the right use of words; wars were raged by the stupid act of provoking comments. Hence, what we desire can be achieved by using our tongue, for “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit” (Prov 18:21). Paul also exhorts us to be careful about our words: “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen” (Eph 4:29).  Daily prayer is required to master the art of speaking appropriate words as David himself shares his personal prayer, “May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart, be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer” (Ps 19:14). Right word heals, right word builds, right word blesses, right word prospers, and right word reconciles.

Abba, thank you for blessing us with your words. Let your Spirit help us speak the right words, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
