“I tell you all that none of those who were invited will taste my dinner!” Lk 14:24

Commitment Required

History has a record of the chosen people, who awaited the Messiah for centuries but did not enjoy His banquet of Divine Word and miracles when He was here on earth. Yet, Jesus also announces of the great banquet that is awaiting in heaven for those who received Him, “How happy are those who will sit down at the feast in the Kingdom of God!” (Lk 14:15). Commitment is required to partake in the banquet, but the worldly cares and concerns can make us miss the feast as excuses are many, “The first one told the servant, ‘I have bought a field and must go and look at it; please accept my apologies.’ Another one said, ‘I have bought five pairs of oxen and am on my way to try them out; please accept my apologies.’ Another one said, ‘I have just gotten married, and for that reason I cannot come.’” (Lk 14:18-20). None of our membership in any denomination can guarantee our participation in this privileged banquet until we keep His, as the priority; otherwise, those who we think do not deserve will definitely enjoy the special meal: “Hurry out to the streets and alleys of the town, and bring back the poor, the crippled, the blind, and the lame.” (Lk 14:21). Paul exhorts us who think we are invited to keep the commitment, “I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, entreat you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called” (Eph 4:1).

Abba, thank you for the invitation to sit down at the feast in Your Kingdom. Let your Spirit help us committed to You all the time, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
