The Lord looks down from heaven upon the children of men, To see if there are any who understand, who seek God. Ps 14:2

Awaiting Love

Human beings have the rarest privilege of looking up to heaven that none of the animal kingdom has. The gift of looking up to heaven is to meet with the love that looks down from heaven, "The Lord looks down from heaven upon the children of men, To see if there are any who understand, who seek God” (Ps 14:2).  The life of Jesus is filled with occasions of looking up to heaven that worked wonders for any human need and brought answers and miracles, "he looked toward heaven and prayed: 'Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you'” (Jn 17:1). The seemingly impossible task of bringing back the dead Lazarus unto life was possible when, Jesus looked up and said, "Father, I thank You that You have heard Me” (Jn 11:41). While the deaf and mute man approached Jesus for healing, again the awaiting love of heaven responded, “when He looking up to heaven, sighed deeply and said to the man, “Ephphatha!” (which means, “Be opened!”). Immediately the man’s ears were opened and his tongue was released, and he began to speak plainly” (Mk 7:34-35). In the parable of the prodigal son, Jesus highlighted the awaiting love of Heavenly Father, “But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him” (Lk 15:20). Let’s receive healing, miracles, and wonders on our behalf by habitually looking up to heaven to meet with the awaiting love.

Abba, thank you for looking down unto each of us. Let your Spirit remind us to look up day by day, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
