And he went up on the mountain and called to him those whom he desired, and they came to him. Mk 3:13

Desired Calling

People take pride in receiving appointment orders from prestigious companies, that designate for temporal purposes. No vocation can be equal to the one that we have received from God. After spending the whole night in prayer only, Jesus came down to choose “those whom he desired” (Mk 3:13). A new name and a new commission with a new authority proceeded immediately, “and he chose twelve, whom he named apostles. ‘I have chosen you to be with me. I will also send you out to preach, and you will have authority to drive out demons’” (Mk 3:14-15). Let’s be proud of our Christian vocation and enjoy the privilege of being desired by Him. Peter, the chief apostle encourages us to be sincere and responsible for this high calling in his epistles, “Therefore, brothers, be all the more eager to make your calling and election sure” (2 Pet 1:10). For it is the rarest thing one can receive, “For many are called, but few are chosen” (Mt 22:14). Unimaginable amount of joy should fill our souls as we realise that He has desired us personally. Let’s remind each other of this special status and remain witnesses to the Desired Calling.

Abba, we thank you for the desired calling. Let your Spirit help us live up Your desire, in Jesus’ powerful name, Amen.
