“My son, see to the wages of the man who went with you; and he must also be given more.” Tobit 12:1

Traveling Companion

Modern men have almost forgotten the existence and protection that are available from angels, who were created before creating mankind. The purpose of angels at the holy throne of heaven is praising Him eternally and executing His orders. There is another purpose that is assigned to them to help and minister mankind, “Are not the angels ministering spirits, sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?” (Heb 1:14). Abraham took initiative to invite and provide dinner for them, “My Lord, if I have now found favor in Your sight, do not pass on by Your servant. Please let a little water be brought, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree. And I will bring a morsel of bread, that you may refresh your hearts. After that you may pass by, inasmuch as you have come to your servant” (Gen 18:3-5). Tobias had the privilege of the traveling companion who guarded and advised how to receive healing for his father’s blindness, “Your father will be able to see again. Just put the fish's gall bladder on his eyes like a plaster. The medicine will make the white film shrivel up so that you can peel it off, and your father will then regain his eyesight” (Tobit 11:7-8). At the garden of Gethsemane, Christ, too, received assistance from heaven, “Then an angel from heaven appeared to Him and strengthened Him” (Lk 22:43). Let’s believe the existence of angels who can guide and protect in our journey of life, “For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways” (Ps 91:11). As children of God, let’s enjoy the privileged company of angels and travel safe, “The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him, and delivers them” (Ps 34:7).

Abba, thank you for sending your angels to protect us. Let your Spirit remind us to request your angels’ assistance, in Jesus’ powerful name, Amen.
