O LORD, our Lord, How majestic is Your name in all the earth, Who have displayed Your splendor above the heavens! Ps 8:1

Glorious Name

There are things that we have not chosen for ourselves - our parents, siblings, nationality, colour, other physical features, etc. ; but the most significant one that defines our very selves is the name. As ordinary human beings, we take pride in our names and try and protect them. Imagine how awesome and the most beautiful would be the name of the One who can command creation into being. David invites us to appreciate and sing hymns about His glorious name, “O LORD, our Lord, How majestic is Your name in all the earth, Who have displayed Your splendor above the heavens!” (Ps 8:1). That is why commandment was written and given to Moses on Mount Sinai by God Himself, “Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain” (Ex 20:7). We believe in one God who manifested Himself in three persons, and the divine Son of God, who proceeded from the Father, revealed a secret unto the believers as to how we ought to pray and inherit blessings in that name, “And I will do whatever you ask in My name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it!” (Jn 14:13-14). Let’s bow down to this glorious name and benefit by raising our voices in prayer.

Abba, thank you for the revelation about thy name. Let your Spirit help us bestow blessings in thy name, in Jesus’ glorious name, Amen.
