“Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone.” (Mk 10:18)

Desire Goodness

The Only One, who came as complete goodness, did not even desire to be called good, for His goodness is par excellent, “Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone” (Mk 10:18). As followers of this Good Son, we should learn and imitate His goodness, as Isaiah got revealed, “Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow” (Is 1:17). It needs practice and perseverance to remain skilled in any field; hence, let’s pray with David, who desired good amidst his weaknesses and failures, “You are good and do good; Teach me Your statutes” (Ps 119:68). Parents, teachers, and leaders of states have the great duty of cultivating goodness around the world, as it is the need of the hour.

Abba, we bow down before your Absolute Goodness and that of your Son’s. Let your Good Spirit guide us and lead us through goodness, in Jesus’ Great Name, Amen.
