“If you go to the left, I’ll go to the right; if you go to the right, I’ll go to the left.” Gen 13:9

Generous Spirit

Relationships are very vulnerable; hence we need teachings that bible sets before us with greatest examples. Priorities have to be kept in mind in view of keeping peace, over money, wealth and prosperity: “So Abram said to Lot, ‘Let’s not have any quarreling between you and me, or between your herders and mine, for we are close relatives. Is not the whole land before you? Let’s part company. If you go to the left, I’ll go to the right; if you go to the right, I’ll go to the left.’” (Gen 13:8-9) Love should be the choice that we make, every minute, every hour, for the wellbeing of each other, as Paul recommends, “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love” (Ephe 4:2). Generous spirit of Abraham has to be imitated for a peace-filled living, as Peter encourages his audience, “Finally, all of you, be like-minded and sympathetic, love as brothers, be tender-hearted and humble” (1 Pet 3:8). Let’s learn to give in so that we may enjoy peace and blessings all the day.

Abba, thank you for being generous with us, and reminding us to have a generous spirit. Let your Spirit help us through and lead into peace, in Jesus’ Most Holy Name, Amen.
