I look up to the mountains; does my strength come from mountains? Ps 121:1

Right Direction

Constant reminder is been set before us, as God chooses to bless His beloved children; hence David, the Psalmist, once again invites us to look up to the right direction, by showing guidance: “I look up to the mountains; does my strength come from mountains? No, my strength comes from God, who made heaven, and earth, and mountains” (Ps 121:1-2). There are two basic directions, vertical and horizontal. Most often human beings choose horizontal over vertical, for it is convenient. Sometimes when we realize our failure to look up to heaven, not in time, it is too late, as in the case of the rich man, who had looked down upon poor Lazarus, and who was forced to gaze into the right direction: “in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham in the distance and Lazarus in his lap. He called out, ‘Father Abraham, mercy! Have mercy! Send Lazarus to dip his finger in water to cool my tongue. I’m in agony in this fire.’” (Luke 16:22-24). Gazing up in surprise, for some reason, was not permitted, even then, they were given an advice and revelation, by the angel, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven?” (Acts 1:11). Let’s remain dependent on God, and give Him the glory that is His due, and be blessed.

Abba, thank you for once again showing us the right direction. Let your Spirit help us memorise the route, in Jesus’ Most Mighty Name, Amen.
