There are three things in which I take special delight—things that are beautiful to the Lord and people alike. Sirach 25:1

Triple Blessings

The first among the three greatest blessings a person can enjoy here on earth, is having the right relationship with siblings, as the philosopher declares, “There are three things in which I take special delight—things that are beautiful to the Lord and people alike: brothers who get along with each other, neighbors who are friends, and a married couple who are happy together” (Sirach 25:1). John, the beloved apostle, challenges the love of God one has against his love for his brother, “If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?” (1 Jn 4:20). The second most privileged blessing would be, having a good neighbour, as Jesus said, “And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” (Mt 22:38-40). The One who designed the family as the first human institution and basic to every other, has proclaimed that the unity of marriage has to be revered, “Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate” (Mk 10:9). Let’s pray that God may shower the triple blessings on us, each and every day.

Abba, thank you for blessing us and enabling us to desire for the triple blessings. Let your Spirit help us do our responsibility towards these blessings, in Jesus’ Most Holy Name, Amen.
