“Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” They answered, “No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.” (Acts 19:2)

Desire His Spirit

The life of a true believer consists in knowing and receiving the Holy Spirit. Ignorance about the possession of the Holy Spirit, and the welcoming of Him into their lives, were found in the believers of Ephesus, which surprised Paul: “he found some disciples and asked them, ‘Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?’ They answered, ‘No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.’” (Acts 19:2). Having compassion, Paul exercized his spiritual ministry for the wellbeing of the congregation he met: “On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. When Paul placed his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied” (Acts 19:5-6). The arrangement that Jesus had for His followers, was to lead their lives in company with the Spirit who is sent from Heaven, “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever” (Jn 14:16). Let’s welcome His Spirit, and enjoy the Spirit-filled life.

Abba, thank you for giving us Your Spirit. Let Your Spirit lead us unceasingly, in the Most Mighty Name of Christ, Amen.
