Jesus said to him, “Do you believe because you see me? How happy are those who believe without seeing me!” Jn 20:29

Seeing the Unseen

Living in an age of science and reason, modern men cannot conceive and comprehend the meaning of the concept of faith, that only pleases God, “To have faith is to be sure of the things we hope for, to be certain of the things we cannot see. It was by their faith that people of ancient times won God's approval” (Heb 11:1-2). The Bible has recorded even the failures of the apostles, so that we may be strengthened in faith. Thomas, who came to India to spread the Good News of salvation, also had a moment of doubt, that Christ supported with a personal visit and the message for His followers: “Jesus said to him, ‘Do you believe because you see me? How happy are those who believe without seeing me!’” (Jn 20:29). Our lives as believers require that we keep faith in Jesus’ achievement of salvation, and its benefit toward God’ beloved children, as John writes to us, “What he commands is that we believe in his Son Jesus Christ and love one another, just as Christ commanded us” (1 Jn 3:23). Let’s always believe in God’s love and providence, and move ahead in faith.

Abba, thank You for strengthening our faith, when we are weak and struggling. Let Your Spirit hold us and support us in the walk of faith, in Jesus’ Most Wonderful Name, Amen.
