Judah is a lion’s whelp; From the prey, my son, you have gone up. He bows down, he lies down as a lion; And as a lion, who shall rouse him? Gen 49:9

Judah, the Lion

The blessings that we receive from parents, are very essential and that can bring us the greatest victories on our behalf, as that happened in Judah’s life: “The scepter shall not depart from Judah, Nor a lawgiver from between his feet, Until Shiloh comes; And to Him shall be the obedience of the people” (Gen 49:10). The continuity of blessing is seen in the life of Judah, among all his brothers, when he received the first choice to challenge, that he accomplished with God’s help, “The LORD said, ‘Judah shall go up; behold, I have given the land into his hand.’” (Judges 1:2). Even after centuries, the blessings that Jacob kept on his son Judah, by his parental authority, got glorified by God’s Son including Himself in this lineage: “For it is evident that our Lord was descended from Judah, and in connection with that tribe Moses said nothing about priests” (Heb 7:14). Let’s receive true blessings from our parents, and be blessed.

Abba, thank You for blessing us through our parents’ love and sacrifice. Let Your Spirit strengthen us, by reminding us of our parental blessing, in Jesus’ Most Precious Name, Amen.
