But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. Is 40:31

Soaring Very High

The imagery of the eagle seems so dear to God, for He illustrates His love and providence for His people by that example: “You yourselves have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings, and brought you to Myself” (Ex 19:4). The constant protection and caring for His children are, once again, emphasized by the favourite imagery of the eagle: “Like an eagle that stirs up its nest, That hovers over its young, He spread His wings and caught them, He carried them on His pinions” (Deut 32:11). Naturally speaking, children resemble and share the parents’ nature and aptitude, and hence, a promise is made to His beloved, to trust Him to receive new strength to soar very high: “But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint” (Is 40:31). Let’s live up to the precious vocation we have received to live as the children of the Most High God.

Abba, thank You for protecting us and providing us. Let Your Spirit give us new strength to soar very high, and declare the Word, that we belong to you. In Jesus’ Most Mighty Name, Amen.
