For everything written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. Rom15:4

Purpose of Writing

From time immemorial, God choose special men to record the events and instructions that would benefit mankind forever. He not only inspired, but also breathed the content for special purposes. Paul narrates the purpose of writing in his letter to his beloved disciple Timothy, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for instruction, for conviction, for correction, and for training in righteousness” (2 Tim 3:16). Events of modern world deprive men of hope and confidence, and that is why encouragement comes from written words of God, as highlighted by Paul: “For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope” (Rom15:4).  David also received instruction to record the actions of God, in favour of His children, that they may praise Him in the ages to come: “Write down for the coming generation what the Lord has done, so that people now yet born will praise Him” (Ps 102:18). Let’s spend quality time with the Sacred Writings that we may praise God for the hope He provides.
