Rely on Him

The One who has created us alone has the capacity to protect us, hence we need to offer prayers regarding our desired life. Solomon insists on the importance of guarding our hearts, “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it” (Prov 4:23), and one way of doing that is explained by Paul, focusing it on things of highest order: “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things” (Phil 4:8). Constant renovation is required of every believer, who wants to abide by the will of God, as he admonishes the Romans: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will” (Rom 12:2). Let’s sincerely ask the Lord for the protection of our hearts, and fully rely on Him.

 

Abba, thank You for reminding us to ask for the protection of our hearts. Let Your Spirit keep us fully rely on You, all the days of our lives. In Jesus’ Most Protecting Name, Amen.
