“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.” Ezek 36:26

Fully New Life

The day that dawns upon us is, in fact, a fresh and new day, never ever seen or lived by anybody on earth; hence it is fitting that we welcome and approach it with the newness of heart and spirit. More often, our hearts are loaded with the experience of the past, that hinders our encounter with the new life that is in front of us. Requesting and accepting the forgiveness of God in faith, and praying and receiving the promise that is laid before us, alone can enable us to enjoy the privilege of being new, as that is the desire of our Father: “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh” (Ezek 36:26).  David knew the necessity of cleansing, hence he cried out in prayer, “Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me” (Ps 51:10). But the generous heart of the Creator offers His own Spirit, that would enable us to walk in His ways: “And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws” (Ezek 36:27). Let our day begin with prayer for requesting a new heart and a new spirit, and live the fully new life on this new day.

Abba, thank You for the promise of a new heart and a new spirit. Let Your Spirit refresh our minds and lives as we own Your heart, in Jesus’ Holiest Name, Amen.
