Praise the LORD. Blessed are those who fear the LORD. Ps 112:1

Fear the Lord

Although fear in general has to be eliminated to have a happy life, one particular fear, that is essential, is recommended and applauded by the psalmist, that is the fear of the Lord: “Praise the LORD. Blessed are those who fear the LORD, who find great delight in his commands” (Ps 112:1). This fear alone has the capacity to alleviate all other fears in our lives, for we trust in Him whom we fear: “He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD” (Ps 112:7). Confirmation of this fact is been registered in his hymn, for David has personally benefited and witnessed that; hence, sings, “You who fear the LORD, trust in the LORD! He is their help and their shield” (Ps 115:11). Let’s keep the fear of the Lord as our daily practice, and enjoy His abounding protection.

Abba, thank You for blessing us with the heart that fears You. Let Your Spirit give us courage to face all other fears, by enabling us with the holy gift of fortitude, in Jesus’ Most Powerful Name, Amen.
