Everyone desires joy and gladness by taking possession of worldly things; but true joy and gladness belong to the one who humbly keeps himself in the shelter of the Most High God, as the psalmist sings, “But let all who take refuge in You be glad, Let them ever sing for joy” (Ps 5:11). As His children, we should find great joy in His Name, who graciously protects us in His own way: “And may You shelter them, That those who love Your name may exult in You” (Ps 5:11). We are made righteous by His Son’s passion; hence, have the right to His surrounding protection, as David declares, “For it is You who blesses the righteous man, O Lord, You surround him with favor as with a shield” (Ps 5:12). Let’s enjoy this privileged protection, and remain grateful. 

Abba, thank You for extending Your surrounding protection to us. Let Your Spirit enable us to feel secure under Your care, in Jesus’ Mightiest Name, Amen.
