His Faith Commands

The best lessons of life are learned when we are facing the toughest situations. Even though Jesus was on board with them, the apostles got frightened in the face of the roaring wind and tossing of the boat. Jesus stood up and taught them the important lesson they needed to learn, by commanding the desired peace into reality: “Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, ‘Peace, be still!’” (Mk 4:39). Faith is the antidote of fear, that needs to be expressed courageously to witness and experience a miracle: “And the wind ceased and there was a great calm” (Mk 4:39).  After calming down the external turbulence, He insisted upon the necessity of holding on to faith to face any challenge: “But He said to them, 'Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?”’ (Mk 4:40). May we ask God to increase our faith that we may live as more than conquerors.

Abba, thank You for teaching us the necessity of faith. Let Your Spirit fill our minds with undefeated faith, in Jesus’ most faithful Name, Amen.
