They were deeply troubled and said to Peter and the other apostles, “What shall we do, brothers?” Acts 2:37

His Gospel Transforms

Being filled with the power of the Holy Spirit, Peter, the fearful ordinary fisherman, proclaimed the Gospel and accused the crowd of their ignorance and guilt, “All the people of Israel, then, are to know for sure that this Jesus, whom you crucified, is the one that God has made Lord and Messiah!” (Acts 2:36). The immediate response of the powerful Gospel touched and transformed those who listened, and they really wanted to know what they should do: “When the people heard this, they were deeply troubled and said to Peter and the other apostles, ‘What shall we do, brothers?’” (Acts 2:37). Repentance, baptism, and the anointing of the Holy Spirit were the solutions offered by the chief apostle: “Peter said to them, ‘Each one of you must turn away from your sins and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, so that your sins will be forgiven; and you will receive God's gift, the Holy Spirit.’” (Acts 2:38). May we have a courage to confront the world with the Gospel we have received and living by everyday.

Abba, thank You for Your Holy Spirit, who moves us to proclaim the Gospel. Let Your Spirit give us enthusiasm and perseverance in transforming the world, in Jesus’ Most Powerful Name, Amen.
