Abide in me, and I will abide in you. Jn 15.4

The Essential Union

None of our efforts will bring fruits in our journey of the Christian life and ministry, unless we know the secret of being entirely dependant on Christ, who passes His strength according to our needs, and that is why Christ taught with the clearest example and exhorted: “Abide in me, and I will abide in you. Just as the branch cannot produce fruit by itself unless it abides in the vine, neither can you unless you abide in me” (Jn 15:4). It is very important to understand and remain as branches so that we can receive the supply of life-giving power, as Paul himself realizes the necessity of His Spirit’s strength and prays for the believers in Ephesus: “I pray that out of the riches of His glory, He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being” (Eph 3:16). Then we can climb to surmountable heights and shout out our faith in the true dependance on Him, as Paul records, “I have the strength to face all conditions by the power that Christ gives me” (Phil 4:13). May we be truly wise to rely upon Him for our sustenance and strength for the effective Christian life.

Abba thank You for making us be aware of the Essential Union. Let Your Spirit bind us together with Our Saviour forever, In Jesus’ Most Powerful Name, Amen.
