Do you not know that you are God’s Sanctuary, and that the Spirit of God has His home within you? 1 Cor 3:16

His Declared Residence

Concentration needs to be maintained on the words that declare every believer as the residence of God’s Holy Spirit. Negligence to this fact led the church to protest to its own institution and division into many more architectural buildings bearing the name “God’s sanctuary,” which only a living believer is entitled to, as Paul brings to attention: “Do you not know that you are God’s Sanctuary, and that the Spirit of God has His home within you?” (1 Cor 3:16). The natural consequence of being the sanctuary of God is to preserve and treasure His Life Giving Word, as proclaimed by the prophet: “‘As for Me, this is My covenant with them,’ says the LORD: ‘My Spirit which is upon you, and My words which I have put in your mouth shall not depart from your mouth, nor from the mouth of your offspring, nor from the mouth of your offspring’s offspring,’ says the LORD, ‘from now and forever.’” (Is 59:21). The culmination of the act of worship in the residence of God’s Spirit, brings God Himself to dwell with us: “Jesus answered and said to him, ‘If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word, and My Father will love him, and we will come to him and will make a home with him’” (Jn 14:23). May we enjoy the indwelling of His Spirit, the chanting of His Word, and the accompanying presence of God, by remaining His declared residence.

Abba, thank You for raising us to the level of Your Spirit’s residence. Let Your Spirit make us recite and mediate Your Word, in Jesus’ Most Wonderful Name, Amen.
