Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the LORD our Maker. Ps 95:6

On Our Knees

As believers worshiping the God who made Heavens and the earth, we need to be on our knees, as the Psalmist shares with us his favoured position for prayer: “Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the LORD our Maker” (Ps 95:6). It is amazing to see that even Jesus, the son of God, in His intense time of prayer, humbled before the Father with due reverence: “And He withdrew about a stone’s throw beyond them, where He knelt down and prayed” (Lk 22:41). The holy bible records this act of submission and being on one’s knees as an essential posture for worship, as Prophet Daniel himself had this as his regular posture of prayer, even when it was forbidden by the ruler: “Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before” (Dan 6:10). May we be proud in honouring our Creator always on our knees and remain blessed.

Abba, thank You for accepting our submission and worship. Let your Spirit rejoice with us in being humble before You, in Jesus’ Most Powerful Name, Amen.
