“And you, too, must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you are not expecting him.” Luke 12:40

Waiting on Him

Scientists, astronomers, and the prophets of the world keep on reminding people of the world’s coming to an end. But Christians have the duty of preparing themselves to welcome their Savior, and alert the fellow believers, as the time of His expectant arrival is not yet revealed: “And you, too, must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you are not expecting him” (Luke 12:40). Clear instructions are given as to how and why should we be prepared to receive Him: “Be ready for whatever comes, dressed for action and with your lamps lit, like servants who are waiting for their master to come back from a wedding feast. When he comes and knocks, they will open the door for him at once” (Luke 12:35-36). Only God’s mercy can enable us to have a perfect encounter with Him as He arrives, if we faithfully wait upon Him.

Abba, thank You for reminding us again to be prepared to welcome Your Son on His Arrival. Let Your Spirit keep us stay awake and alert us to wait on Him joyfully, in Jesus’ Most Powerful Name, Amen.
