Don’t be troubled when you hear the noise of battles close by, news of battles far away. Such things must happen, but don’t mean that the end has come. Mk 13:7

The Earliest Signs

The things that are happening around the world may cause us to fear if the world is coming to an end, but they are to be taken as the earliest signs as recorded in the gospels: “Countries will fight each other; kingdoms will attack one another. There will be earthquakes everywhere, and there will be famines. These things are like the first pains of childbirth” (Mk 13:8). The children of God, who are waiting for the return of the Messiah, should be glad that He is arriving to receive us into His Kingdom, rather than being troubled like unbelievers: “And don’t be troubled when you hear the noise of battles close by and news of battles far away. Such things must happen, but they do not mean that the end has come” (Mk 13:7). Let our faith enable us to pray and remain in the safety of His hands.

Abba, thank You for providing us with Your Safety amidst all the troubles that are around us. Let Your Spirit give us courage to wait in expectation for Your Son’s Glorious Return, in Jesus’ Most Powerful Name, Amen.
