Bless the Lord, my soul, and never forget any of his benefits. Ps 103:2

Count Your Blessings

We do not need a spiritual writer or medical scientist to notify us to recall the guiltless and healthy life that our mind and body experience everyday. Hence, constant reminder is set before us by David the Psalmist to be grateful for the blessings we enjoy in the daily walk of Christian life: “Bless the Lord, my soul, and never forget any of his benefits” (Ps 103:2). The problems we face in our lives make us forget or not notice the continuous supply of unlimited forgiveness and unlimited healing that we automatically receive: “He continues to forgive all your sins, he continues to heal all your diseases” (Ps 103:3). The reason why the loving God extends this much of mercy and compassion is to redeem us from the Pit of life at the end of this life: “He continues to redeem your life from the Pit, and he continuously surrounds you with gracious love and compassion” (Ps 103:4). May we have a generous spirit that counts all the blessings we receive at the very beginning of each day.

Abba, thank You for the blessings of unlimited forgiveness and unlimited healing. Let Your Spirit enable us to be aware of Your compassion, and rejoice in admitting it, in Jesus’ Most Wonderful Name, Amen.
