A warning given by an experienced person to someone willing to listen is more valuable than gold rings or jewelry made of the finest gold. Prov 25:12

Esteem the Experienced

The younger generation of today imagine and believe that they know everything better since they have the advantage of knowledge from books and the electronic media. But the one thing that they fail to realize is that nothing can match with the knowledge that comes through one’s own long years of experience. We can avoid wasting our lives on personal failures if we have the humility to give heed to the warning by the experienced person, as instructed by Solomon, the wise man: “A warning given by an experienced person to someone willing to listen is more valuable than gold rings or jewelry made of the finest gold” (Prov 25:12). If we look back and notice the mistakes that we have made and the wrong decisions that we have taken, these would tell us the negligence of clearest and repeated warnings by the experienced person. May we pray that God may give us wisdom to value the richness of the experienced.

Abba, thank You for keeping us surrounded by the experienced persons. Let Your Spirit give us humility to consider and esteem the experienced, in Jesus’ Mightiest Name, Amen.
