Paul answered, ‘I am not mad, Your Excellency! I am speaking the sober truth.’Acts 26:25

Defend Yourself Sufficiently

The situation of the world is getting worse and worse, because people who do know the truth remain silent while the spiritually ignorant are arrogant with their arguments. That is why it is important for God’s people not only to know the truth but also to speak about the truth courageously with conviction. Paul sets the best example by defending himself fearlessly in front of those who were ruling and had power: “As Paul defended himself in this way, Festus shouted at him, ‘You are mad, Paul! Your great learning is driving you mad!’ Paul answered, ‘I am not mad, Your Excellency! I am speaking the sober truth.’” (Acts 26:24-25). May we not let the evil shout aloud, instead defend ourselves sufficiently, for it is our right and God-given duty.

Abba, thank You for inspiring us to defend ourselves. Let Your Spirit give us the gift of fortitude, in Jesus’ Most Powerful Name, Amen.
