Jesus saw him lying there, and he knew that the man had been sick for such a long time; so he asked him, “Do you want to get well?” Jn 5:6

Came to Heal

When the great multitude followed Him to receive healing, Jesus went in search of a man who could not make it by himself to approach Him, for he had been lying by the pool of Bethzatha for 38 years. The man was steadfast in waiting there, because he believed that was the only way he could get well. And it was this man that the Master Healer approached with compassion, inquired of him, and instantly released him from the sickness. “Jesus saw him lying there, and he knew that the man had been sick for such a long time; so he asked him, ‘Do you want to get well?’ The sick man answered, ‘Sir, I don't have anyone here to put me in the pool when the water is stirred up; while I am trying to get in, somebody else gets there first.’ Jesus said to him, ‘Get up, pick up your mat, and walk.’” (Jn 5:6-8). May we believe in the never-failing love of God, that reaches us wherever we are to heal us.

Abba, thank You for knowing the needs of Your children and their longing for healing. Let Your Spirit enable us to meet Him with faith in the power of compassion and healing. In Jesus’s most healing name, Amen.
