For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed . . . 1 Pet 1:18

The Costliest Price

We value things according to the price that is demanded to purchase them. When we know the price that is set for the redemption of mankind, we will be astonished at the love God had for us as well as the sacrifice Jesus made on our behalf. A constant meditation upon this mystery alone can reveal the greatest value of every one of us, and enable us to protect us from anything that harms us, as Peter declares: “For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect” (1 Pet 1:18-19). May we praise and worship God for creating us invaluable, and for redeeming us by giving the costliest price of His Son’s Precious Blood.

Abba, thank You for creating each of us invaluable. Let Your Spirit make us meditate on this mystery and be grateful for the sacrifice His Son made for us, in Jesus’ Most Redemptive Name, Amen.
