"Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow." Ps 51:7

He Cleanses Us

Children are cared and protected by the love of parents who cleanse and bathe them whenever the need arises, even when the child does not ask for it. But as we grow and mature, we take up the responsibility of keeping ourselves neat and clean. In spiritual life, God takes the responsibility of cleansing us of sins and stains that we make in our lives, by pouring the invaluable blood of His Son on us. Normally we try to hide our dirty parts, as the first parents did, but David admitted his sinfulness and pleaded with God for cleansing: "Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean;  wash me, and I will be whiter than snow" (Ps 51:7). It needs humility and courage to admit our failures, and come and stand before God for the holy shower of cleansing. May we follow the good example of the humble shepherd and approach the throne of His mercy and remain pure.

Abba, thank You so much for constantly purifying us whenever we fail and sin. Let your Spirit convince us of Your pardon and make us desire true cleansing, in Jesus’ Most Loving Name, Amen.
