Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. Jn 13:14

Do the Difficult

Given an option, all of us desire to do the easiest and the least because we do desire comfort and to be served. This cannot happen always; as we grow, we need to bear the burden of taking up the responsibility of taking care of others so that they may benefit. When none of the Apostles was prepared to help out with the cleansing of their feet after arriving at the place for dinner, Jesus volunteered and set a perfect example of servanthood as the model of a new leadership: “Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet” (Jn 13:14). May we prepare ourselves to understand the need of the hour, and put all the efforts to serve others, however difficult it may seem, following the example of our Lord and Master.

Abba, thank You for setting the example of Your Son’s readiness to serve. Let Your Spirit enable us to prioritise the need of the hour and serve, in Jesus’ Most Gracious Name, Amen.
