But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” Mt 14:27

Courage Is Commanded

Observe children as they grow, they have absolutely no fear. But parents, siblings, culture and traditions create in them unnecessary fears. Since they cannot resist them, they accept them and in the course of time they get controlled by fear. God wants His children to be brave and courageous in any situation of life. The disciples of Jesus cried out in fear when they saw Jesus walking on the water. So Jesus immediately strengthened them with His assuring love: "But Jesus immediately said to them: 'Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.'” (Mt 14:27). May we take heart every time a possibility for fear arises, and stay calm as we have the God Omnipotent who stands by us and watches over us.

Abba, thank You so much for commanding us to be courageous, Let Your Spirit give us the gift of fortitude all the days of our life, in Jesus’ Most Powerful Name, Amen.
