Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful. Lk 6:36

Mercifulness Is Essential

The spiritual life that we inherit from the heavenly father demands us to be compassionate toward each other. It needs commitment to practice this virtue in our daily lives and express it spontaneously to others. We tend to overlook the mistakes we make and try to justify ourselves in many situations, but  when it comes to others we have a tough scale in measuring their mistakes and easy to condemn them. That is why Jesus reminds us of the duty of extending compassion and being charitable to one another: “Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful” (Lk 6:36). May we be mindful of our very own need of getting mercy from God and be ready to offer mercy to anyone who is in need of it to make the environment more pleasant and beautiful.

Abba, thank You so much for always being merciful to us. Let Your Spirit move our hearts with compassion for others, in Jesus’ Most Merciful Name, Amen.
