“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” Mt 5:4

Blessedness of Lacking

Ordinarily we think and believe that being filled with everything we need is the blessing. It’s not true, for being in lack of knowledge, health or wealth is the blessing. When we have everything we desire, we lose the privilege of needs being addressed or met by God. Solomon lacked wisdom, and when he brought that lacking to God’s presence, he was supplied with abundant wisdom. Our lacking can be the right meeting point with God, and we need to be happy about it. Jesus who performed wonderful healing and miracles did so when there was a real lacking that He alone could supply, be it food for many or wine at the wedding in Cana, or the blind man by the roadside; hence He said; “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted." (Mt 5:4) May we believe that His comfort is promised for those who lack and mourn, not for others. Let’s wait for our turn for His comfort that will swiftly remove our lacking and fill us with His assured blessings.

Abba, Thank You for being our comforter in mourning. Let Your Spirit make us understand the blessedness of our lacking situations, In Jesus’ Most Powerful Name. Amen.
