“This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘Write in a book all the words I have spoken to you.’” Jer 30:2

Writing Is Commanded

One of the activities that make human beings different from all others, and even superior to them, is their ability to write and record. Writing needs listening, writing needs thoughtfulness, writing needs patience, and the list goes on. Without writing, there would be a whole lot of confusions, disagreements and unnecessary opinions that would divide and split the community, which would give room for the enemy who desires to propagate lies for its own advantage. And that is why God always wants His words to be recorded and registered, lest lies may be propagated. In fact, He Himself wrote and gave on the stone tablets the commandments that are essential for the people, and gave it to Moses. Here in this passage, the same command is given to Prophet Jeremiah: “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘Write in a book all the words I have spoken to you.’” (Jer 30:2) May we humble ourselves before the written word of God, and abide by what is written and given to us. May God give us more of His words for this time of the era that we are living in, so that we may benefit from His revealed words.

Abba, Thank You for giving us Your words and asking us to write. Let Your Spirit make us listen and then write, so that we and our generation may live by Your words, In Jesus’ Most Powerful Name, Amen.
