“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavour, how shall it be seasoned?” Mt 5:13

Secure Your Flavour

Everything in the world has a flavor and everyone has a nature. Salt is one thing that invaluably people across countries, continents and cultures use to add flavor to their food. The amount of salt is comparatively very less in proportion to the amount of food that we prepare, yet the presence of it or the absence of it or the amount of it really matters. Jesus commissioned His apostles and the followers, however small  they may seem in the population of the world at that time, to be the salt of the earth: “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.” (Mt 5:13). He chooses only the twelve, a very small number to change the taste and flavor of the world into God’s desired cuisine. The warning is given us not to lose strength and flavor of the saltiness that God expects of us. Let us pray that God may keep our faith, love, compassion of saltiness that would transform the taste of the lives of individuals around us wherever we are placed.

Abba, Thank You for giving us the command to be the salt of the earth. Let Your Spirit make us maintain the strength of our saltiness, In Jesus’ Most Powerful Name, Amen.
