“What is truth?” retorted Pilate.  Jn 18:38

Know the Truth

Right from the beginning of the creation of mankind, the weapon the enemy uses to defeat human race is by distorting the truth, deceiving them by putting doubt and confusion about the truth of the word of God and convincing them of the lie and falsehood, and leaving them in the darkness of depending upon self-knowledge. One of the descriptions of the enemy is that he is the liar: “You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” (Jn 8:44) The compassion of the father sent His Son so that the world may know and believe in the truth that sets them free eternally: “To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, ‘If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.’” (Jn 8:31-32). Till the last moment, even when He was interrogated, Jesus asserted His duty as proclaiming and testifying to the truth: “‘You are a king, then!’ said Pilate. Jesus answered, ‘You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.’  ‘What is truth?’ retorted Pilate.” (Jn 18:37-38). May we know and believe in the truth about the creation, fall and God’s plan of salvation and redemption of mankind, that alone can liberate us and make us worthy of receiving the eternal life that is prepared and set for each and everyone of us.
