For mine eyes have seen thy salvation. Lk 2:30

Desire to See

The industries of movie, manga, and tourism prevails due to human being’s insatiable thirst for seeking pleasure of the eye. In today’s world we hardly come across people who deeply desire to see God or His manifestation in person. The oldest man who had unquenchable thirst for seeing the promised Messiah, was given confirmation by the Holy Spirit that he would never face death before having a glimpse of the Saviour, and was led to the temple on the day the child was brought by Mary and Joseph to fulfil the requirement of Jewish laws. Driven by the Holy Spirit, Simeon not only went into the temple but also rightly identified the Messiah and held Him in his hands, expressed his unexplainable joy in a sigh: “For mine eyes have seen thy salvation, Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people” (Lk 2:30-31). Jesus Himself highlights the importance of such privilege: “Then he turned to his disciples and said privately, ‘Blessed are the eyes that see what you see.  For I tell you that many prophets and kings wanted to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.’” (Lk 10:23-24) The revelation of the manifestation of God’s salvation is the privilege reserved only for His chosen ones, as revealed through Prophet Isaiah: “He told them, ‘The secret of the kingdom of God has been given to you. But to those on the outside everything is said in parables so that, “they may be ever seeing but never perceiving, and ever hearing but never understanding; otherwise they might turn and be forgiven!’” (Mk 4:11-12) May we sincerely desire for the revelation and manifestation of God so that He may graciously give us the gift of seeing that and witnessing that to the world.

Abba, Thank You so much for instilling in us a desire for Your manifestations. Let Your Spirit guide and lead us to capture the moment of revelation, In Jesus’ Most Wonderful Name, Amen.
