Teach me to do what pleases you, for you are my God. Let Thy good Spirit lead me on level ground. Ps 143:10

Please Him Highly

Awareness is one thing that makes the dimension of our life entirely different and more meaningful, especially the awareness of our relationship with the Creator and the awareness of our role here on earth. In the busyness of the world today, many do not have time to reflect or realize the purpose of their creation—an act that would enable them to please the Creator by acting according to His will. Despite having several duties, King David kept pleasing God as one of the top priorities; hence he sang and prayed: “Teach me to do what pleases you, for you are my God. Let Thy good Spirit lead me on level ground.” (Ps 143:10) God sent His own Son to set a perfect example in pleasing Him high, which He confirmed at the time of Jesus’ baptism: “And there came a voice from heaven, saying, You are my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” (Mk 1:11) As human beings we tend to take pleasure in things that only satisfy us. But it should never go to the extent of displeasing the One who has given us life, plan and purpose. Even while He was on His way to fulfill the purpose of His coming, Jesus cried out and wept since He knew the pain of hanging on the cross, yet He insisted upon fulfilling what pleased His Heavenly Father: “Father, if You are willing, take this cup from Me. Yet not My will, but Yours be done.” (Lk 22:42). May we sincerely seek ways and means to please Him highly so that He may embrace us and let us stride through the level ground by the guidance of His good Spirit.

Abba, Thank You for reminding and inviting us to please You above all things. Let Your good and Holy Spirit guide and lead us on the leveled ground that you keep in front of us, In Jesus’ Most Powerful Name, Amen.
